For several years now, we have been thrilled by the green coffees that Nazareth Dias Perreira and her children and grandchildren grow in the Carmo de Minas region of Brazil. Our house coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,100m-1,450m and on an area of 330 hectares. Every year, between June and August, the coffee cherries of our Red Bourbon, as well as some other coffees that we have already had the pleasure of welcoming to our assortment, are harvested and then processed as natural. The carmocoffees organisation's own Q-graders evaluate the coffees directly on site.
The history of Nazareth and its coffee cultivation is also special. Nazareth's husband José Isidro first trained as a dentist and moved back home to Sertao Farm after his mother's untimely death.Nazareth and he married in 1949 and had four children. Francisco, Luiz Paulo, Glycia and Sandra all left the farm for their education at the request of their parents. But they all came back and have leading positions in the family business. Slowly, the sceptre is being passed to Nazareth's grandchildren, who have so far gained experience in all parts of the coffee supply chain. So the Goldblend not only offers the story of a coffee from Brazil, but also shows the influence Nazareth's family has had on coffee growing in Carmo de Minas over the decades. We enjoy the professional collaboration with the family and look forward every year when the first bags of the new harvest arrive at our roastery!
