Harvest: 10.23-01.24
The clear citrus and tea notes as well as the balanced taste and beautiful acid structure of this coffee from the Danche Washing Station are characteristic of washed coffees from Ethiopia. The deep sweetness of this coffee is particularly noteworthy, a quality that we have rarely found so pronounced in washed Ethiopian coffees.
The high cultivation altitudes of 2000 to 2300 meters above sea level play a decisive role in the taste profile of this coffee. Due to this altitude, the harvest typically takes place later in the season compared to other regions. This extended ripening time of the cherries contributes significantly to the exceptional quality and higher sweetness of the end product.
The Danche Washing Station is located in Chelbesa, in the Gedeo Zone of Ethiopia, in the heart of the famous Yirgacheffe region. This region is known worldwide for its high-quality coffees and stands for exceptional cultivation and processing practices. The station is supplied by around 400 small farmers, whose farms are between 1 and 2 hectares in size.
The Danche Washing Station team has extensive experience in agronomy and agriculture, which gives them the freedom to effectively experiment with new processing methods. This combination of geographical and technical advantages results in a coffee that impresses with its clarity, balance, exceptional sweetness and depth.
All our coffees are traceable back to the farm. We work exclusively with importers who share our values. Only ecologically, economically and socially sustainable coffee enters our roaster.
We always buy our coffee seasonally. Our range changes several times a month to always roast the freshest beans. We want each coffee to highlight the specificity of its terroir.
Roasting is a craft and that's how we practice it. Our roasting team around the German Roastmaster of 2018, Kilian Seger, invests a lot of time in profile development and quality control.
