Learn Coffee Roasting with the German Roastmaster!

On coffee’s long journey, roasting is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating stages a coffee bean undergoes. Green coffee is anything but flavorful—it’s more like a sweet yet unfinished raw material with enormous flavor potential. It is the roasting process, through a series of complex chemical reactions, that unlocks this potential. Do you want to roast coffee yourself and learn what to consider? Have you always wanted to know what happens during coffee roasting? We offer you the chance to explore this in a seminar with the German Roastmaster of 2018, Kilian Seger. This seminar is suitable for home baristas, coffee nerds, amateur roasters, and those simply curious about the fascinating field of roasting.

  •  WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN OUR ROASTING SEMINAR:

    • Understanding Green Coffee as the starting material
    • Roasting Theory: The properties of roasted coffee and what happens during roasting. Roasting techniques will also be discussed.
    • Sample Roasting: Together, we’ll roast samples using different profiles on the Ikawa sample roaster.
    • Quality Control of the coffee beans
    • Cupping: Tasting and analyzing roasted coffees

  • Coffee Roasting: Courses take place depending on the schedule (please check in advance) at 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM at our roastery at Länderweg 21 in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen. The course lasts approximately 3 hours and is held in small groups. The coffee roasting courses are usually conducted in German, with selected dates available in English.
