Since 2019, we have no longer been roasting in our café in Nordend, but have set up our own location on the south side of the Main in beautiful Sachsenhausen. Although no coffee is served to customers here, the roastery is the heart of our company, as this is where the specialty coffee that makes our customers happy every day is created. Our roasting team, led by the German Roasting Champion of 2018, Kilian Seger, invests a lot of time in the profile development and quality control of the respective coffees. We roast on a 30kg drum roaster from Giesen Coffee Roasters (W30A).
Before the coffee is packaged and prepared for shipping, we check the quality of each individual roast batch in daily tastings, because we only sell what meets our own standards.
Our seminars on the topics of barista, tasting, latte art and roasting also take place in our roastery in Sachsenhausen. Whether you are an ambitious home barista or a professional, everyone can learn something from us and deepen their knowledge of coffee.
Baking and roasting have one thing in common, both are real craftsmanship and that's how we live it. Have you ever tried our croissants or snurre in one of our cafés?
In August 2021, we opened our own bakery adjacent to the roastery, which supplies our cafés with delicious cakes and fresh pastries every day. But if you take a closer look at the company's history, the bakery has actually always been an integral part of Hoppenworth & Ploch. We started baking our own brownies and waffles at the campus back in the early days and baking has been with us ever since.
The conversion took a few months, but it was worth the wait. Every day, the baking team led by master pastry chef Max-Toby Welke conjures up delicious croissants, scones, cakes and much more. The team invests a lot of time in improving the products and developing new baking creations.
Since March 2024, we have also been selling our baked goods in our Altstadtbäckerei!
