Do you enjoy connecting with people, spotting business opportunities and building long-term partnerships? Join us in developing a proactive, systematic B2B sales operation for cafés, restaurants, hotels and bakeries.
About us
Hoppenworth & Ploch is a specialty coffee roastery based in Frankfurt, with our own cafés and bakery. We produce outstanding specialty coffee and handcrafted baked goods and aim to do excellent work for everyone across our value chains. This is built on a kind, open and collaborative culture – within our team and with our customers.
Through our products, we create excitement, curiosity and awareness of the stories and challenges behind coffee and baked goods. Transparency, contemporary methods and genuine product quality are how we contribute to a more sustainable hospitality industry. After several years of growth, we now want to professionalise our structures further and reach businesses that may still be working with large commercial roasters.
Your role
You will grow our outbound business in the hospitality segment: identifying relevant businesses, building a healthy sales pipeline and winning new customers. Following our single-point-of-contact approach, you will remain the main contact for the accounts you acquire after the deal is signed.
Whether by phone or email, through your network, at events or in person, you will help shape the right mix of channels. What matters is that you work systematically, document your activities in our CRM and turn opportunities into reliable customer relationships.
What you will do
- Identify potential customers across cafés, restaurants, hotels, bakeries and other relevant channels. Specialty coffee will be your main focus; for suitable customers in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, you will also include our bakery's B2B offering.
- Monitor the market, research new openings and relevant concepts, and visit prospective and existing customers.
- Proactively approach leads and develop your own mix of calls, emails, in-person visits, referrals and networking.
- Work with our Sales Lead to build a transparent outbound process and consistently record leads, insights and next steps in our CRM.
- Guide prospects from consultation, tastings and proposals through closing and onboarding. For coffee and equipment concepts, you will involve our internal specialists and external equipment partners; extensive technical equipment knowledge is not required.
- Manage the customers you acquire over the long term, understand their operational challenges and bring relevant market feedback back into the team and our business development.
What success looks like
Success means building a well-documented outbound pipeline that remains useful to the wider business and regularly generates relevant new customers and additional revenue. We will develop more specific sales targets together as the structure matures.
What you bring
There is no single ideal CV for this role. You may already have active B2B sales experience and want to learn about specialty coffee – or know hospitality and specialty coffee well and want to develop professionally in sales.
- You show initiative, think independently and turn ideas into action.
- You are comfortable approaching people and businesses you do not yet know, and remain constructive and persistent when you hear no.
- You listen, identify pain points and translate them into relevant, commercially sound solutions.
- You communicate in a friendly, dependable and professional way and enjoy building long-term relationships.
- You work in a structured and collaborative way, document your activities and share relevant market and customer feedback.
- You are eager to learn, comfortable with digital tools and able to pick up CRM and other digital workflows quickly.
- You are confident communicating in English. German is helpful for the Frankfurt market, but it is not a requirement.
A specific degree and a driving licence are not required. Experience in sales, hospitality or specialty coffee is a plus, but your attitude, willingness to learn and motivation for our mission matter most.
Your team and development
You will join a sales team of four to five people with clearly defined customer segments. You will work especially closely with our Sales Lead, who is responsible for strategy, organisation and team leadership and will support you in building our outbound structure. Another team member focused on sales processes will also contribute.
You will take on meaningful responsibility from day one and can develop into a strong specialist or leadership position, with growing ownership of key accounts and our sales strategy.
What we offer
