Cajamarca is a balanced coffee from the northern Andes of Peru. As a filter coffee, it presents a soft, fruity sweetness with notes of pear, plum, and walnut. As an espresso, it is rounder and a bit denser, with hints of orange and almond. The coffees for this Regional Select Lot are chosen based on cup quality and regional character. This results in a coffee that showcases the soft, approachable side of Peruvian coffees while also bringing enough fruit and structure to remain exciting as both a filter and an espresso.
Cajamarca is located in the northeastern highlands of Peru and is one of the country's most important coffee-growing regions. The coffees here grow at an altitude of about 1600–1900 meters, mostly on small plots cultivated by independent producers. For this Regional Select Lot, producers from the region deliver their coffees to Lima Coffees. There, the lots are tasted, evaluated, and blended into a regional blend. Thus, the coffee cannot be traced back to a single farm but represents a clear regional profile from Cajamarca: soft, sweet, nutty, and with a delicate fruitiness. The coffee is exported via Lima Coffees and imported by Cafe Imports Europe.
Our coffees are traceable back to the farm. We work with importers who share our values and focus on responsible cultivation and fair partnerships – with regard to environmental, social, and economic aspects.
We always buy our coffee seasonally. Our range changes several times a month to always roast the freshest beans. We want each coffee to highlight the specificity of its terroir.
Roasting is a craft and that's how we practice it. Our roasting team around the German Roastmaster of 2018, Kilian Seger, invests a lot of time in profile development and quality control.
